about

From Granada to Jerusalem
The Israel Brass Quintet would like to invite you on a musical journey throughout the Jewish-Israeli tradition on which its members were raised.
The Journey begins with Ladino* songs that date back to the middle ages in Spain, and continues with the traditional sacred and secular melodies of the Ashkenazi Jews of German, Polish and Russian origin, a flourishing community nearly entirely extinguished during the Holocaust.
The second part of this musical trip brings us to Israel and its different landscapes - the agricultural life in the Kibbutz, the oriental scent and rhythm of the Yemenites, the humor and lyricism found in the Hebrew language - and lastly, Jerusalem our capital, with the unofficial anthem by Naomi Shemer “Jerusalem of Gold”.
All the arrangements of the pieces found on this album were commissioned by the Israel Brass Quintet and tailored specifically to emphasize the skills of its members and the brilliant, warm sound of the brass instrument family. These pieces selected for our journey were chosen after careful thought and deliberation, and represent the inner “humm” that resonates in all of us.
Enjoy!
